What kind of a Theft Deterrent System is installed? Factory Toyota or After Market. You might take a look at the Owner's Manual for info.

What is the history behind this issue. Was a repair performed like a Battery disconnect/replacement? Were any accessories added to the vehicle like a Remote Start System? Something must have preceded this event.

my car has the same problem after someone hotwired it and tried to steal it. Now I can't get the accessories to work, but the car starts fine.

Make ....Model.....Year? What does not work? Any warning lights on or flashing?

1998 toyota camry, XLE V6. None of the lights flash. Only the door open light and airbag light work. The car thinks it off when it's running. When the engine is running the door will make noise and ding when it's open like it would do if the key was only on accessory

Ok....next step is to check for a blown fuse. Under the hood there is a Fuse....Relay Box. You will need a 12 Volt Test Light or Volt Meter to test fuses. Do you feel comfortable testing fuses? The Owners Manual is a good guide fori ID fuses.

yeah, we tested all of the fuses already. The way they tried to hot wire the car was by twisting up a bunch of the starter wires and blow torching the wire tubing off. We replaced those wires and it still didn't fix anything

Seems you have a tough situation. It's going to take a Wiring Diagram and a good electrical tech to figure this one out. All I could suggest is to recheck for further damaged wiring. Good Luck.
