I have a 65 impala. With the headlights on are the parking lights supposed to be on also?

The parking light should not be on. There are a few possible causes. * Bad ground and powers is going thru parking lamps to get to ground. Check the grounding of the headlight. * a short in the headlight/parking light wiring (like the wires are touching) not likely but what happens when you turn on the parking lamps....do the headlights come on very dim? * bad/defective headlight switch.

The guy at the inspection station told me they should be on when the headlights are on. they are not on with the headlights. thanks
