ticking noise

Fords have inherent noises. Power steering pump for one. My 89 F-150 always "ticks" after start-up but goes away soon after the oil pumps to the valves/valve covers...oil low?
mine only does it when its not running it doesnt do it all the time
Coolant/heat related noise as it cools down? (sounds like ticking - another inherent noise, other vehicles too) Electrical - ? When ticking noise occurs after ignition off - disconnect battery to see if it stops, see if it's electrical. Go from there
Electrical - could be a switch, not opening to cut power like the off position of the windshield wipers. Gurguessing of where to start. Noise stops after battery disconnect. I once owened an 86 Ranger. Glove box light would stay on...if parked three days - drain too much to start. Check how much drain (amps) it's drawing...if yours drains too.
i never noticed my battery going dead it can sit for weeks without going dead it did before
