motor swap on a 1989 ford ranger out of 1997 4.6l mustang gt?

i have 1997 mustang gt DOHC and it was recently wrecked and i want to swap
the motor into my 1989 ford ranger 2.9 is it possible?

If it fits it is possible but it will be a lot of work. From what I can find on the web the Mustang engine is pretty wide so take some measurements and see how much room you have.
