Diesel Swap 1989 Ford ranger

I have a 89 Ford ranger 2.3l 5-speed. What
could I swap with a little   Diesel   With out
doing a bunch of modifications?

Nothing; replacing a gasoline engine with a diesel requires many modifications. Fuel system, electrical / computer, exhaust system, etc. It's a lot of work with lots of mods required.

The 1983 Ford Ranger came with an optional 2.2 liter diesel engine. I owned one for a short time. Do some googling and maybe you can fine one of those engines.
