1973 ford thunderbird turns over but wont start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced new plugs, plug wires, fuel pump, fuel filter, voltage regulator, carbarator, alternator, battery, positive battery cable wire, but still wont fire.  Will act like it wants to turn over, but wont fire.

And check the coil. That's where the problem is. Is the Distributer, points, coil. Gap the points between15-18.

is your spark plugs wired in the rt firing order,buy a spark plug tester at auto parts they are cheap see if you have spark,if not than we go from there,if yes,than we go to fuel,small bottle and a little in carb not alot please my friend did that and caught carb on fire,keep a damp cloth ready any way just cover carb if it happens,don't panic!,all you need is afew drops while someone crancks if it starts than carb float venturii is plugged or the float is not adjusted staying closed.GOOD LUCK!

If no fire. Then your timing chain..Check to c if getting compression... If it is then it should be as I stated earlier..

Points gap .017" when the rubbing block is on the high side of the points actuator (eccentric inside the distributor), check the ignition points to see if the contacts are burned or pitted. If the point contacts are burned and / or pitted replace the points and the ignition condenser.
