If the RPM's of your engine are increasing, but the speed is not suspect a transmission problem. Check the level of the transmission fluid. If level is OK consult a professional.

You don't say if this is manual or automatic. If it is manual I think your clutch is slipping. If it is just in the gauges, then the mainsprings are probably weak and giving a false reading.
