what would cause remote key unlock to stop working?

Ive got a 1998 Buick Century with electronic remote unlock trunk lock and trunk lock
control
It just stopped working ; what could cause this?

My key fob will not unlock my car doors or trunk...changed battery ..still won't open Please help
