Check engine light

Asked by GuruX5LDR Oct 06, 2018 at 09:42 AM about the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Chrysler Town &  Country van.  My check
engine came on.  The mechanic has replaced a seal.  Two
weeks later the check engine light came on again and the
mechanic had to.replace the gas cap seal.  A day later the
check engine light came on again.  Could the check engine
light be hitting something metal causing it to keep coming
on?

It sounds as if you have an evap system leak, they can be very difficult to locate, you may have to find a shop with a "smoke" machine to find it.

The mechanic did that and that's why they had to replace the sensor. Had no problems for 2-3 weeks before the check engine light came on again and they did the smoke test and found it was the gas cap seal.

Recheck codes if it's a evap code there is something called the evap monitor it runs randomly but pulls a vacuum on the fuel tank and closes all vent valve it must hold vacuum for 24 hours, tough to find if one of he valves is bad for t may not show up with a smoke test because the smoke gets blown into the intake manifold where you can't see it, the vacuum supply hoses must be removed to check valve leakage
