Check engine light is on?

Asked by Sweetchild26 Aug 13, 2020 at 06:40 PM about the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country Touring-L FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2014 town & country with 77,000
miles. Check engine light came on and van
idols rough. Diagnostic test said miss fire on
cylinder #1 had it taken to Mechanic, They
had it for two weeks said that they looked into
everything took everything out, spark plugs,
coils everything but open the engine could not
find anything wrong. So next step is to open
the head and go into more invasive search. Is
the mileage on the van low to start having
engine problems internally? Is it common to
have to rebuild and engine on a Chrysler so
soon?

Have them compression test cylinder number one. If it tests very low or zero it's a valve problem and the head will need to be pulled to fix it. If the compression is good on cylinder number one there's no need to pull the head! It's not an internal engine problem! Hope that helps! Jim
