do the front 4x4 axels turn all the time on a 2003 ram 1500

I have a 2003 dodge ram 4x4 and I had it up on our lift at work and noticed that the front 4 wheel drive axels turn and its not in four wheel drive ...my questin is are they always locked in and turing?

Hello, The axel will turn as a result of the rear wheels being engaged. However, the axels should not be turning independently of the rear wheel. Best of luck! CarGrrl
