2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 Automatic, bogs down

My son just bought a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7
automatic. The truck has a new motor in it (thts all
I know) , not sure how many miles on this motor.
But my son can get in start it, drive for about 45
min and it starts acting like is starving for fuel, and
starts bogging down and he said eventually it will
die. He waits a little while cranks it goes about 200
ft, dies again and so on and so on. I'm thinking fuel
filter....any ideas?

Since the motor is new, I too would say it's a fuel delivery problem. Checking the gas cap is a good first idea, then replace the fuel filter, which on some Dodge vehicles, also contains the fuel pressure regulator. That was my next guess. Or run a fuel pressure test at the fuel rail looking for about 50 psi.

My thinking is a purge problem, if the system malfunctions in any way, it can actually suck the gas tank to near vacuum n the fuel pump pressure can't overcome the near vacuum above.
