Asked by antleo Apr 16, 2013 at 10:30 AM about the 1998 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am looking into buying a 1998 Dodge ram 1500 the transmission is slipping on it, I am curious as to about
how much i would be looking at to get it rebuilt, or how hard it would be to rebuild it my self?

Im not 100% sure on the model but the information i was given is that its a 1998 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with a v8
magnum motor, if that singles out a specific model please let me know

Thanks

its not going to be very hard to build it yourself if you know what your doing, but its always better to have it done professionally and to spend the extra dollars to ensure that it will be done correctly. and for a rebuild replacement your looking probably at around 1200-1600 if you do it yourself. but it could vary.

Call a local transmission shop and ask them about a rebuild / replace / adjustment. Get an estimate and take the amount off the truck's value.
