Truck will shut down when it reaches operating tem. and will not start untill it cools down

I had a Mercury Car that did this alot. The car is just overheating. You need to add cool water to it and it should cool down and you should be able to start it right up.

This will be either your Ignition control, the ignition coil or crank position sensor. There is an involved test that I can post if you need it.
