My guess is u would run into Ecu issues and the cost will probably be higher than its worth to do it.

No they are not the same. Pay attention to the advice from above.

Thanks guys. I know for sure I need to use my intake manifold, but it looks like those engines look exactly the same???!!! Not sure what is different!

I think 99-05 are equal long block but I would verify that.

TOTALLY STUMPED!! I have a 1998 Subaru Forester S. Had a miss fire on # 1 cylinder. Put in new plugs, wires, coil pack, miss fire is gone...BUT... then the car sputters when you push the throttle. If you ease into the throttle it's ok. Idles fine. Other new parts we have tried to fix this are... cam sensor, TPS, fuel filter, and cleaned the EGR. Any ideas what is causing this? 8 Answers
