umm.. I'm trying to find info but not seeing it. I remember something like 99-04 or 01-04 stage 2 (SOHC) long blocks would interchange. It's been so long that I can't remember. Maybe 05 but I don't think 06 will do it. Keep searching on SF.org and/or NASIOC. I searched with: sg forester engine interchange : --and-- : sg forester engine work year swap block: --but wasn't finding what I wanted.

I have been searching as well but not getting anything substantial. Please let me know what you find as soon as possible. Thanks

here we go. searched with:: subaru forester what year engine will work :: http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f66/when-replacing-engine- what-fits-what-124052/ 99-05 but sometimes you gotta swap your intake on, etc. You may also want to see what's up with EJ255 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Forester I find that odd since one thing is 99-05 and then wiki has 04-05 being "different"? Hope that helps :)

We have an 03 and 04 and I never researched anything 06+ except that 06-08 has a nice face lift.
