2000 VW beetle trunk

How do I open the trunk from inside of the trunk?
Simplest way please.

I took my plastics off my inside the back hatch and tied a string to where the actuator would push and just pull it when I want to open it up .just be careful with the plastics look for screws on the closely there are two in the handle finger holds on hatch and

Sorry didn't see your question until 7 months after the fact .but any one know where the power window fuse would be on 02 vw beetle gls sport
