is it a chipped key? meaning is there a an electric chip inside the key that communicates with the car to tell it that its the right key. If so then the regular key wont work. I know with chryslers if you use a regular metal replacement on a skim or a key with a fob attached three times then it disables the entire engine so you cant start it if your life depended on it you got to get it towed to the dealer.
