I couldn't scare up specific info on this switch out on the web, tsdevaul, so I'll have to refer you to a manual. I found this Chilton's for sale on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chiltons-Volkswagen-Beetle-Ghia1949-1971-Repair-Manual_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34234QQihZ007QQitemZ170072380068QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) and the auction is still two days away. And here's one on Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Beetle-Karmann-through-Models-Haynes/dp/1850107297/sr=8-8/qid=1169565334/ref=sr_1_8/105-3350565-6141202?ie=UTF8&s=books). You should have one of these handy to deal with your vintage bug anyway and this is the perfect excuse to go get one! Good luck!

Open the trunk. Find the back of the speedo. Look for the wires going in at the sides of the speedo. Pull. Get a new bulb. Reverse.
