Asked by 79Buggy Sep 07, 2012 at 01:16 PM about the 1979 Volkswagen Beetle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The horn does not make any sound and I do not know if it is something I should try to fix or replace.  If so, how for either?  Thanks

Hi there,I think you might be able to fix this problem if you want to or have the time to try.Horns can be jammed by rust.Replace it.If that does not solve the problem apply electrical contact cleaner to the horn button contacts. One wire from the horn goes to a connection near the fuse box and one goes to the horn button check those wires for corrosion free connections.Hope one of these strategies or a combination of these solves the problem.
