how rare are the 89 rx7 gtu?
i just bought an 89 rx7 gtu and someone told me that the gtus are kinda rare i was just wondering
The GTU are not rare but the GTUs are. There are a few thousands I believe of the GTUs model in 1989 and there are only about 100 in 1990 and because the 90 GTUs was under production Mazda said they never have it. http://www.Rx7ForSale.Net
The GTUs cars are rare They totaled 1156 cars built for 1989 and 100 for 1990 but the 90's were just restamped 89's. There are less than 100 90's left, you can witness one tragedy on youtube, RX-7 vs. cat Excavator. The GTUs was special because it was a turboII platform with no turbo, a aluminum hood, no sunroof, 4.30:1 ring and pinion, and a viscous limited slip differential. I am the proud owner of a white 1989 GTUs myself.
GTU are common as muck, GTUs are very rare indeed...
I am taking apart to Rebuild the carburetor I noticed in The base of the carburetorI or Manifolds Intake I see a butterfly valve.I suck air through the vacuum valve bat Doesn't close.What do you think it's supposed to close under vacuum?

I have a 90 GTU...one of only 100 built..,bought it new.sat in my garage for 10 years. Just had it rehabbed. Beautiful car and runs like new. Black with sun roof and original radio.
No you dont. The GTU is not rare
GTUs does not have a sun roof. There are only a couple people right now who have them. The Joe Maddox rx7 build thread is one of the best recent ones online. Look it up.
Wrong, I have a 90 GTU..Bought new with all the paperwork. Confirmed z number. Has a sunroof and an extra clear sunroof. Like new.
You may indeed have a GTU, but simply stating you have a sunroof means you do not have the "GTUs". GTUs is not intended to mean the plural of GTU. It is a entirely different car with very low production numbers.
