How to tell year of rotary rx7 12A motor

Asked by KMredrose1 Sep 15, 2009 at 11:17 AM about the Mazda RX-7

Question type: General

How can I tell what year motor I have for a rotary rx7 motor.  Carburated 12A?

1 Answer

165

the 12A in all of its forms was produced between 1970 and 1983. The 12A as seen in the RX-7 with a carburetor, was 1978-79. If you could provide the casing numbers, information on the carb, or other clues I could probably pinpoint the exact year, assuming the parts are original.
