removing ignition switch without key?

How di I remove the ignition switch and lock without a key so I can replace the tumbler with a new one...Greg

because general motors has a habit of generally being a pain in the ass, you have to remove the whole damn steering column just to take the ignition switch off of it and replace it with a new one.
