Car overheated, and now won't start

Asked by Nimbar Jul 31, 2019 at 10:57 AM about the 2007 Buick Lucerne

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2007 Buick Lucerne overheated over the weekend.  Got antifreeze into the
engine, topped off the oil.  Now the car won't start.  I'm getting the ticking noise
when I turn the ignition, like the starter can't turn over the engine.  What am I
missing?

Can you turn the crank by hand to make sure engine isn't seized? Hopefully the overheating didn't damage the engine? Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. Any applicable trouble codes? If you think, just starter motor issue, we can check voltage circuits and ground for starter motor. Any testing as far as starter motor, make sure vehicle can't move. Transmission out of gear and parking brake set. If you want starter motor wiring diagram, I'll post it. good luck
