Cranks but wont start

Asked by Vandura_3682 Feb 23, 2017 at 03:55 PM about the 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car was parked for about 2 weeks went to
start it and now it only cranks but will not start.
Have good headlights but still wondering if battery
may be causing this or possible neutral safety
switch.

could be a couple things, could be a fuel pump or camshaft sensor

If the car "cranks" it is probably not your battery and more likely a fuel related problem. When you put the key in the "on" position before cranking, can you hear the fuel pump run and pressurize the system? If yes, the look at spark issues. Also, make sure you have fuel.

What if the car has no spark and has been sitting for 10 years? I would start and then one day nothing so they left it sitting. WTH do I do with the gas in it? I dont want it going through my car.
