reduced power while driving

2005 chevy cobalt..engine reduces speed and warning light says reduced
speed to avoid engine damage..what causes this?

Mine did that too and it was due to the filter not being changed.

My daughter was driving her Chevy 2010 Cobalt and it lost power and shut off. It will not crank or turn over. What could be the problem?
