2006 Elantra takes 10 mins to start AC

Hi All, I have a 2006 elantra CRDi model. whenever I start my car, it takes minimum 10-15 mins to start cooling even thought I keep the temperature @ 17 degrees celcius and then cooling is good. can someone pls let me know why this happens. Thanks Giri

Possibly it's low on refrigerant gas. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, you can buy the proper gas and follow the directions carefully. You can not hook it up backward, they make the nipples different so you don't blow up the can and yourself pumping gas in to the new can. Otherwise, it may cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $75 to have it done. Hopefully that is all the problem is, good luck!
