we have also changed the fuel filter on the 2005 malibu
And all so check your fuel relay.
it is a nightmare we are at our witts end with this thing its about to nickel and dime me to death
Will car crank and run then shut off?
and is engine light on?
it cranks but sputters bad and when you give it gas, you have to do the pedall really fast, or else it dies out.....but if you do it really fast, it will sometimes eventually catch on and take the gas
yes engine light has been on for a while but it does crank and then die
Ok,two thing,s to check, crank sensor, and your igintion, all so was you driving car when this stareted?
it started doing this a few months ago, we changed the fuel filter and it seemed allright for a week or so, then started again.....then we changed the pressure regulator, it wouldnt even start, so we changed the pump, and its the same as before
it was like we shut it off one day and the next day it was crap
Have you had code,s read? And on the malibu,if gas cap is bad will cause this.
the codes pointed to it running lean and the other was rapid misfire
You can go to autozone or advance and they will run the code,s for you and tell you what is wrong.
and we unscrewed the gas cap and no change yes im in the usa
the thing ata autozone had no codes come up at all my husband had a tester of some kind and and thats where we got the codes
Ok misfire, means if you were driving car when it started,it could have jumped timing.
it will run doing the sputtering but sounds like its sucking air from somewhere now
im ready to put a match under it myself, but it was my moms car and i want so bad to fix it and keep it
If you here air draw, check the intake gasket, could be the problem, hate to throw so many guesses, but im working on what you say to me,
he checked that.....im sorry, im going by what he says when i ask him....i appreciate your help
ok,now where back to that crank sensor,
how do you check that?
it ran for several months after this all first started and would mainly have trouble once it warmed up? does that make any sense?
Try this, remove positive cable and leave off for a few minute,s,may reset ecm,if this doe,s not work you may need to replace crank sensor, but sometimes computer hold,s a false code, and maybe this will help it.
Yes crank sensor get,s hot ,give,s false reading ,shut,s car down.
Has battery died lately,or have you jumped anyone off with it?
the battery was replaced abt 2 months ago and now this one has died a few times but only since we started working on it and trying to crank it alot
should we try removing the cable?
The car has anti theft device, you may reset it,turn igntion to on postion dont crank it,leave it on for fifteen minute,s,then cut it off for one minute,if it is this should fix it.when batterys, get weak or have to be replaced the anti theft messes with it some times.
Yes you can try removing cable first.
is the crank sensor the crankshaft position sensor?
if so, where is it located because a new one is only 25$ and i will go get one tomorrow
It is located at the bottom big pulley on bottom of motor on the right side.
yes crank shaft postion sensor is what it is called
I think that may be it,if what i said above doe,s not work.
ty....he is going to try that tomorrow....he said will a fuel injector not being seated right cause it to suck air and stall?
ok, cause he had pulled the injectors out to clean them when he first started working on it and he said it sounds like the air is being sucked in where the first injector is
