Transmission good but rpms go up when I'm trying to step on it.

05 Silverado 5.3v.  Runs good when I was my way
into the speed I want.  But when I try to step on it
Roma go up ; and I have to let off gas for it to catch
up to the gears and stuff.

Engine light came on and was the shift silinoid but my mechanic installed a new one and still same problem. But the light is off. So I jus drive it easy and not gun it but still really wanna know why rpms go high like that but when I let off goes back to normal.
