Abs wheel bearing issue

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 silverado 1500 4x4 with 166666 miles. I have a whining noise in the front
at speed. I replaced the front wheel bearing around 75k a few years ago. I purchased a
new set of bearing assembly at NAPA. The only ones they had on hand where the
heavier duty SKF brand. I used the cheaper napa brand last time. I changed out the
passanger side tonight and went to check out its operation. The truck gave me a ABS
warning light. I checked the wiring and connections. It all appears good. My question is, if
I change out the drivers side will my abs systems work again or did I just install a faulty
wheel drive bearing assembly?

Just out of curiosity, have you checked your brakes? If those are good, sometimes there is a little clip that is broken and it will make an odd noise, even if your brakes and rotors are good to go. Midas can check it and replace it for about $20.00.

If the light wasn't on before you installed it and now it is, the speed sensor is bad in that new bearing. Take it back and get another bearing.

Yea unfortunately brakes are good. I don't believe it's the issue. It's either a front wheel bearing or my transfer case going out again. They both made about the same kind of noise. Same kinda noise like heavy lug tires on a highway. Noise intensity is directly related to speed. It's the loudest around 55-70 MPH. It is getting more intense with time. I am going to change out the drivers side tomorrow. I am hoping that the two dissimilar assemblies are causing the ABS issue. I did not have the ABS issue until I changes out one of the units.
