Lifter ticking after oil change.

I bought a used 2005 Chevy Tahoe when I test
drove it it was fine come back from the test drive
went home to get money to purchase dealer told
me he done and oil change use 10 W 40 oil when I
started the car to leave it was fine drove to work
when I got to work and went to get out to go into
the shop I realize there was a ticking in the engine
so the chicken or go away when you drive
depending if you stop at a store or if you stop at a
red light depends on whether or not to take him
starts up again or not trying to see if anybody
could answer this question on whether I should do
another oil change or if I should do a lifter job if
anybody has any ideas could you please give me a
little help thank you

Is this a high-mileage motor? Well maintained? If it was not well maintained the engine may have a lot of gunk in it. You could try a treatment like Seafoam then another oil change. They also make oils for high-mileage motors that have extra conditioners, sealers, and additives that may help prevent lifter noise. I'd let a mechanic advise on route to take, since using the wrong product could make matters worse.

10w40 oil is probably not the correct oil for this vehicle, but I wouldn't think it would make it tick.
