Need to get more power out of the three liter V6 in my '08 Ford Escape..... please help!

I've got a (fairly) large V6 that's absolutely GUTLESS!  Hoping there's an inexpensive way to either make it more efficient or get a little more power out of it.  Any ideas?  THANKS!
