I agree. It also depends on how bad the module has broken. It would be best to replace it just to be sure.

yes.. my 1989 riviera did, it idled very rough and had power loss. seemed like one coil was dead. 4/6 cylinders fired running about 64k miles when it failed(on a rebuilt engine). if it was my stock module carried over, it had 186k miles; i'm not sure how the shop handled it. exhaust smelled like raw fuel too. best to replace the module if it feels rough and you done your sparkplugs + changed wires. i always check the simple items first, then go for the major stuff.
