If 4 wheel drive goes out on Trailblazer. Then does it become front or rear wheel drive.

My 2003 Trailblazer 4wheel drive went out. More extensive repair than
replacing aucuator.   Entire assembly. $1700 estimate.   If I continue to drive it.
Has it become a front wheel or rear wheel drive. I assume front offers better
traction in Winter.

I think this machine will default back to rear wheel drive if the 4WD goes out. And yes, there is more weight on the front of most vehicles and that's how FWD does better than RWD. You might find someone to replace the transfer case for a lot less, that's probably what broke.. the chain.

2 places I brought the car into both said that entire Axel assembly had to be replaced.
