put a 305 v8 and a TH350 chevy in my 1978 buick skylark and motor mounts are not where they need to be to far forward is there any way other than cutting the driveshaft to make it work.

I doubt the motor mounts are too far forward. How much room is there behind the bell housing and firewall? Chances are you will have to move the cross beam for the trany tail-shaft mount, and find a driveshaft to work, or modify one to fit.
Well 78 Skylarks did come with 305/350s, so I'm sure there are motor mounts out there that would work, yours may have been a V6 car originally. You can always try the speed parts catalogs for a set of motor mounts for your needs. PS cutting drive shafts sucks, as they have to be balanced too, try and get the right mix of parts before going that route.
there is about 2 inches from firewall ; and the mounts at the bottom are about 1 inch over the front of frame. the car had a 231v6 in it. when I took it out I changed the mounts but there was no holes for mounts. I had a Nova and it had holes for mounts.
Try a dedicated Buick or Skylark forum, someone with your vintage car with a V8 can probably tell you the position of the motor mounts and you can drill a new mounting hole.
