there was no mention about the shocks in the estimate so i'm assuming they are ok...again no strange noises...

I don't think so,the repair sheet says my tire have 32 psi in them...what's a psi...

you should check your wiring harness, cut it open and find the green wire with the blue strip. cut it and connect it to the brown wire with the red stripe

You should only have 2 ball joints. In a front wheel drive car the upper ball joints are replaced by the steering knuckle's mounting into the strut tower, IIRC. It's entirely possible that yours have worn enough that they no longer pass acceptable tolerances. I would suggest getting a second opinion from another mechanic and see what they say.

With a 102,000 km on a vehicle that even the police use as cruisers and beat the living daylights out of.. I highly doubt you need such a service as to replace the ball joints. I call it fishing. Working a shop I see customers coming in with $1500 estimates for brakes, tires, suspension.. etc when after our inspection and road test only need about $200-300 of work. Some cases the vehicle is perfectly fine and the shop/stealership (yes, I mean stealership, not dealership) or service centre is just looking to pad their soft bottom line. If the repair industry is slow, magic estimates of several hundred dollars and more work then necessary pop up. Don't fall victim to it. I especially wouldn't trust a shop that calls for 4 ball joints on a car that only came equipped with 2..

As stated, you have only 2 ball joints. However, tie rods and hub bearing assemblies are notorious for going bad on almost every GM car.
