H Pipe Measurements

Asked by John Aug 12, 2008 at 12:51 AM about the 1986 Ford LTD Crown Victoria

Question type: General

Hi I just bought an H pipe from the junkyard from an '88 Lincoln Town Car.  Now I know that the wheel base of the town car is extended, and I was told that the H pipe for a Towncar is longer than one for an LTD Crown Victoria or Mercury Grand Marquis, but no one seems to know how much longer.  Can anyone help me?  Thanks in advance, John.

Thank you, would I need to remove those extra inches so that the tailpipes clear the rear axles?

Typically long wheel base Town Cars are seven inches longer, but not ALL TCs are LWB models. I would assume the H-pipe would also be seven inches longer.

I don't know if you're still looking into it or not, but the way I understand them, Towncars are 6 inches longer than a crown vic, and it's all behind the front bumper... The pipe measurements shouldn't differ too much
