Gas mileage

poor gas milage is this crappy gas we getting today especally with the ethionol they putting in it,as for tranny have a scan done possable bad sensor.

Thanks for the reply. They replaced the trans sensor 479975, control 400029, gasket,cover, and seal. As far as crappy ethonal gas goes. When I had my Focus rental, it was registering 22mpg with the same v6 engine. Something else is happening here.

What does that mean?

how many miles are on your vehicle,compairted to miles on the rental.ok I see 45 k on it.have you had it tuned up,plugs wires,whay oct gas you running,add a can of sea fome fuel injector cleaner to a full tank of gas.with this crap gas,I run a can at every 5th fill up,keeps the injectors ,throttle body clean.this will up your mpg.

Thanks for your reply. There are no tuneups anymore. A 3 year old car in California with no weather issues should not need plug wires, plugs. By the way a 45k car will not lose gas mileage. The mileage stays about the same over the life of the car as long as you keep it maintained. You are the 2nd person who has mentioned Sea Foam. I have never heard of it, but will give it a try.

Gas mileage depends on a number of factors. Are you driving stoplight to stoplight or long highwaydistances between stops? Do you drive only a mile or two and shut down for a while (like while at work/shopping/etc) or over 8-10 miles each way or more? Did you drive the other car the same way or was this on a vacation with different driving style/routes? I live in a small town in central Illinois and consistently see 18-19 in our "city" mode. On hiway depending on wind direction, 24-26 is normal below 65 mph. Over 70 costs 1.5 mpg. (I drive 70-75 on the interstate anyway). As for tune ups, get those plugs changed in 50,000 if for no other reason than so they don't sieze up in the aluminum head. The plenum has to come off for access to the rear set but its a small expense compared to removing a head to remove a broken plug or two! Seafoam is great stuff. I use it in everything a couple times/year. Lawn mowers, tractors, race car and daily drivers. As for the ethanol, yes, it does affect mileage a bit but doesn't affect power output at all. The computer compensates to the difference in burn properties. It just takes a little more ethanol to make same heat as gasoline. However, it will also absorb up to 100% of its own volume in water so it will keep your fuel system dry and clean in most cases. I have a hot rod that runs on 85%, runs cooler, goes like stink and doesn't stink up the air as much!

Yes I'm having horritlbe MPG on my 08 Edge. Got it for better fuel economy and can't get better than 15 mpg. around 30k miles on it. I was going to wait to see what kind of mpg this tank gets and after that start investigating. Please let me know if you figure anything out. It is supposed to get a combined 19 mpg. My 06 F350 was doing better on the freeway that my edge. Some fluke thing with these edges

I have 6500 miles on 2012 edge Ecoboost. My MPG is from 14.9 - 17.4 if I drive extremely conservative. My Aurora V8 (1999) got 19 MPG, same gas, same traffic. Edge gas problem is extremely annoying. Was at the dealer 2x with charts and gas logs, dealer says all is good with the car. I think the MPG propaganda is just that. Its rigged.

POS Ford Edge....Ecoboost... Has anyone had any luck with mpg by installing an aftermarket computer/programmer?

I have 07 was getting 24 mpg but over last year dropped to 20.4

I just got a used ford edge 08. This is the worse car i have ever owned. I get about 13 mpg. I cant afford to go anywhere. We were joy riders before this car. Now i have to choose to buy gas ride a nice ride and come straight home because there is no money left for restaurants etc. Or stay local. Ive done tune up. Im having tranny slippage but no codes and all 3 shops say there is no problem.cant afford to change trans.filter because its in the transmission and cant afford to change a fuel filter because its in the tank.dont know if this is common placement of these parts or if i am just stupid.i hate this car.and im stuck with it.

I recently got about 23mpg going highway miles of some 260 miles. I generally get about 18 city driving on my 2010 Ford Edge 3.5 Litre V6.

I have a 2017 Edge Sport with the 2.7 liter twin-turbo with 4K on it . Even after I switched to 93 octane (car is supposed to run on regular) I only get 12.2 around town. If I switch to "sport" mode it goes down to 10.2. On the highway, 22, which is ok, I guess. Small tank doesn't help either. Dealer says service won't review until I hit 5K. Not expecting a resolution, but Ford is definitely misrepresenting the car.

My 2010 Ford Edge AWD Limited gets 22 mpg while driving at 75 mph and of course better mileage at 65 mph. It has 80,000 miles on it. I keep up with the oil, transmission and PTU oil changes. Have not done a spark plug change...that might help tad bit with fuel economy.

This is normal from what I’ve read. Our 2012 Edge got better mileage than our ‘08 we have now. Our ‘08 gets horrible mileage. The Eco- boost that started on either the 2015 or 2016 model gets you a lot better mileage. That’s our plan to sell ours and upgrade as soon as we can.

Gosh! Our 2018 AWD Turbo Titanium averages 23.5 in mixed city driving. Although once in a while it has topped at 24 mpg mixed. We ALWAYS burn 93+ Octane with 10% (or less) Ethanol. We've got almost 30,000 miles on it by now. We *LOVE* it. It has "spunky" response and is a great road/travel car. Packed out with ALL the features, it is definitely a luxury SUV.
