Security light flashing and car won't turn over

Weak battery,or jumping some one can cause this, you will ahve to remove key from igintion, then remove positive cable from battery for about ten minutes, then place key in car and turn to the on position, then replace the positive battery cable, should reset the antitheft,if not you may need a lock smith or dealer to clear it.
chances are the pass lock sensor is defective the lock cylinder is the sensor and has two small thin wires coming out of the back of it those wires are probably broken have the lock cylder replaced and coded dont replace the key unless it is worn out and you need to figure out which key it is as there was 15 different chip resistors for this system
I have the exact same problem with my 1997 Chevy Malibu Base. I am puzzled, because it doesn't even have a key fob or security system... Normally I have to wait about 10 to 15 minutes before the light stops blinking. (Very frustrating)
you do have a security system it is less obvious though you need a new pass lock sensor as well, it is a different system though
I had that problem in my 2005 Monte Carlo & I brought a new battery & it started right up
I have a 2000 monte carlo ss. At times the security light will flash while you're driving. And other times it won't crank and won't start. The security light is flashing when it does this. I would disconnect the pos.side of the battery for about 10 to 30 minutes. Reconnect the battery Battery and it would start right up. But last night it wouldn't start again and the security light was flashing. Only now disconnecting the battery doesn't work anymore. Also you could turn it off through the stereo. But when you do it that way and it still won't start. And when you go back into the stereo settings to check if the " ALARM " is still off its in the ON setting. You can turn it off again and check it again it's in the ON again. Idk I'm lost on this. How can I disarm this permanently. Or what can I do to fix this problem. The car is in excellent condition other than that darn security system. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I have this exact same problem but with a 2001. I have changed the alternator, lock cylinder, and ignition part behind it. Nothing has worked. Im as puzzled as you are, if you figure it out, let me know.

Wait 10 minutes, turn key to ACC, TURN LIGHTS ON AND OFF 3 TIMES. THEN TURN KEY TO ON, BACK TO OFF, THEN START IT. Sounds stupid but it works. Happens on a regular basis to me. 2004 monte ls.

I recently changed my hazard switch, my radio stopped working, security and airbag lights on, blinkers don't work right. Think I found all my electrical issues. This main wire harness runs along passenger side floor under the carpet, up the backseat and into the trunk, awful design. Check this out... If anyone having any electrical issues check all along that main batch of wires.
I got. 2004 my key broke in the tumbler i put a new one it start and it turn right off then i ran a wire from the battery to the wire going to the switch it started and started to run it ran good for about two weeks then i was get out of work one after noon and it started to die out so once i stop it it dies. @guruf23mc Sounds like you need to replace the fuel pressure regulator. Or the fuel pump and/or fuel filter. The fuel pressure regulator is the cheaper fix, I would start with that.
we had the problem with our monte carlos ss's as your 2004 as long as our giving it gas it goes when you let off it dies. we changed the mass air flow sensor and it is fine now. no more of that problem.
