Help Diagnosising Electrical Problems

Asked by Esther Jul 30, 2017 at 06:16 PM about the 2005 Ford Five Hundred

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A day ago the instument lights ( including the
clock, radio, and dashboard lights) in my ford 500
started randomly flickering. At the same time my
air conditioner (which has dual air) started making
a choppy/pulsing like noise. However, the air flow
rate is steady. The noise tends to stop when I am
in idle or driving at low speeds. In idle the rpm will
occasionally flux from aroud 500 to 1000 also. The
fan speed controller also doesn't work, but this
problem existed prior to the others. I have no idea
what is going on and was hoping for some insight.

My main concern is that I will be moving in a few
days and am worried about something going
wrong during my 1,400 mile drive from South
Carolina to Iowa.

For anyone who has the same problem, I got my car looked at and it tured out to be a bad alternator.
