82 El Camino mpg is horrible,how to improve it?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

the first thing I did is remove gas tank and clean it out .It was pristine.Blew
out all lines, replaced fuel pump,replaced all air and the fuel filter,flushed
system,changed plugs, wires,rotor,cap,oil,replaced radiator.And other stuff.
Can I change out the choke with either a manual or vac.?Or do I have to
change the carb out?I kind of hate to ask this but is there a way that I can
tie the choke down or rig it for a one way trip to LA?Im running out of
money and need the cheepest way out.

We have gone over this already but check the timing, the compression and if it were me I would buy a new carburetor.

You may be able to buy a manual choke conversion kit for your carb.
