1968 Ford XL convertible

Question type: General

My father bought this car for my mother as a wedding gift off the showroom
floor in 1968. Now after many years, I have inherited it and is now in my
garage. The issue that I have been faced with is that many of the Galaxie
owners I have talked with tell me that the XL is not a Galaxie but is a beast all
its own. I am beginning the process of getting this car back on the road. The
vehicle is a 1968 Ford XL Convertible, 390cid, 2v, ps, pb, ac (under dash). My
big question is who can I speak with to find out everything there is to know
about this particular car and where to find parts specific to this make and
model?

Great car! I think the main difference is the head lights which are concealed on the XL and LTD. Here is a read for you --- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Galaxie#1965.E2.80.931968

I am sure there are trim differences but the body and mechanical components should be the same as other models of the Galaxie.

You have a ford xl comverable. I had the 1968 ford xl comverable with 390 4 barrel candy apple red there was only about 4600 make that year. Wish I still had it. I order it when I was in Vietnam for $4200.The galaxie looks almost like it but two different cars.

You can get a Marti report on that car. My 68 is one of 209 made. Yes XL is all by it self only made 2 years 68 an 69 only in fastback or convertible. Pony carburetor did a Great job on my autolite 4 barrel. Mark
