73 VW SB.....now I've got a backfire....get one thing fixed and something else goes haywire....

in N sounds good long as you keep the gas to it.....chokes off when you let off.....not enough gas getting in?  got a backfire now too......try to put it in  gear and off it chokes.....suggestions?

Maybe you should CHECK for a Vacuum leak, at carb, base, or at intake tubes {manifold} or at the cylinder head.
