How long do vw's last for? I was looking around for a vw golf or GTI and wasnt sure how long they usually lasted for and what I should be looking for.

That's a deep topic... there 60 year old VWs still on the road...it all depends on how you take care of them. VW uses modern engineering and materials and are as reliable and maintainable as they come...unless neglected. Sure, there a models that are less desirable than others...it's so with any marque...but, you won't find a more dedicated community of supportive folks than the VW world. Any car will last as long as you take proper care of it and don't abuse it. VW is no exception.

Although, VW was one of the first manufacturers to double- galvanize and dip the car bodies on the assembly line...meaning that since the early 80's, VWs don't have much of a rust issue unless they were severely neglected.
