difference in tops?

Question type: General

Whats the difference in tops? Is a hard top different from a glass top. And obviously a convertable.

Hi curls! The hard top stays fixed like any sedan or coupe. The glass top is a T-bar type of set up where you actually physically remove one or both glass panels and stored them to give you an open sunroof effect. The convertible top is cloth and retracts and stores behind the seats leaving the entire top of the car open to the sunshine. Hope that helps. Good luck!

LouB is not a Corvette driver for sure. Assuming it is a C-3 Corvette, and it is not a convertible, the tops are called T-Tops. The T-tops came from the factory made of fiberglass and were painted. After market t-tops were made with glass like a moon roof that also could be removed same as the factory made fiberglass t-tops. People soon learned the glass t-tops were letting in the sun and it made the interior of the Corvette hot. Tinted glass was then introduced, but it still added to the warmth inside, even though it gave more head room than the stock T-tops, This allowed people over 6'1" to ride in the Corvette more comfortably. The C-4 had one piece removable tops, and they also came with glass tops with the same quarks as the two piece T-tops of the C-3 Corvettes.

Were any of the 80 model Vettets made with a sliding or push up sunroof( in other words not removable) ?
