2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid not "Hybriding" properly.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2010 Fusion Hybrid only uses battery when brake is applied.  Doesn't work properly even going downhill at slow speed unless the brake is applied lightly.  Word has it CarGuru stated it was because the battery was over ten years old and needed to be adjusted back to less then nine years.  TRUE?  If so, what's the procedure?  Ford service has no idea.
