To fix squeaky brakes do I have to take off the wheels to fix them?
My dad replaced my brakes before I ever drove my 4runner and didn't grease the brakes. He forgot that step. Now do I have to take off the wheels or tires or anything to grease them?
Yes, you have to take the wheels off to access the brake calipers. Typically, you have to take the brake pads out to apply the "grease"(lube) or install backing plates (longer lasting) in order to completely eliminate brake squeals. You may also search the net for "brake pads bedding procedures" and rebed your pads, quite often, that would silence them.
Usually, when I do brake jobs at work and the brakes squeak and don't need to be replaced, I take off the wheel, remove the pads and scuff the pads themselves up, then put whatever squeak stop on there to prevent them from squeaking. However, I only do this with ceramic pads. I've never really worked with any other type of pad.
yes pull off the wheel and remove caliper grease the pins that the cliper slides on. but that should not cause squeeky brakes you either have a cheap pad or didn't resurface the rotors. I would put better brake pads in.
