Stinky problem?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I turn on the AC or heat I get a bad smell coming from the vents.  It's not as
bad as a dead animal and seems to lessen after a few minutes.  I'm about to go on
vacation and my wife will not drive in it until something is done.  I'm looking for
suggestions.

if the smell is like wet chothes that have been left for a few days then you have mould in the a/c evaporator. This is usually caused by the drain hole that allows water out of the venting system becoming blocked. Set the a/c to recirculate and spray anitbactirial spray into the recirc vents. P.S. repeated exposure to mould in a/c systems can lead to leigonaires disease.
