How much would it cost to have a garage rebuild a 1978 Ford Mustang motor

To do it proper, around $3000 to 5000 to totally break it down and put new parts in. Maybe a garage can get it running for less? Does it have the V8 or 4cyl? Personally I wouldn't spend the money to rebuild it. You can install a remanufactured one in, will be on the lower side of my numbers. The cost is all in the labor. Is the car that special? A 78 Mustang is not worth too much unless it's a King Cobra.

It has not been driven in 15+ years, It was in good shape when it was last driven. Minimal rust. But it is kept in a wooden shed in the Minnesota cold.
