How much would a restoration on a 1967 mustang cost?

I need to know how much a restoration to
running shape on a 1967 mustang would
cost. I have a great body everything interior
seats windows gages everything cosmetic
etc. just need to know how much everything
engine wheels transmission everything to
make it go would cost me.

Somewhere around $3000 to $4000 to do it right and correct. You can probably save money if you find a motor and transmission together.

Restorations are fun and a great learning experience but at the same time it's expensive only because parts are hard to find sometimes.

I would get your hands on the manual for that year and model mustang. For some vintage cars I've worked on there was a phone number in the manual. When I called it they said they had ever part for the car I was working on. Manuals are great to have.

A full restoration is going to cost far more than $4,000. A quality paint job could be twice that alone. To rebuild the engine/drivetrain will cost more than that too. I would budget $20,000 + for a driver quality car, more if it is rusty.

Agree with FOR, a real restoration is going to easily run upwards of 20K, more if you decide to make it a frame off, and it gets prohibitively expensive if you farm all the work out to others. A true "stock" restoration is expensive due to rarity of original or OEM parts, versus a lower cost "resto mod" that might rely on aftermarket parts. Hit up the cruise in scene and talk to people about their cars, you can learn from their process and see the end results and pick up some good pointers too.

I will add a little to Kens comments. A national show winner that looks like it just rolled off of the factory assembly line would probably cost more than a hundred grand. When you were done you could sell it for half that. In most cases car restoration is a labor of love, not for profit.

I'm at 30K and still going, paint was 22 for complete teardown and bodywork and spraying inside and out, motor 3K for rebuilding 390, tranny was 250 for a 4 speed manual did it myself, new seat upholstery was 350 and did it myself. All the little chrome parts add up fast. I am just about done building this car and if you paint it yourself you could do it for 20k but if professional job quality you better budget upper 20s to low 30K

Full nut and bolt will be over 80K. No lie. Labor costs vary wildly ($75 and hour to $125 an hour. Usually it's a 1000 hours for a 65-68 Mustang. That's if all mechanical is good to go. If it's from a battered and bruised car.... buy one that's already been done. It's cheaper. Also, good paint has gone up 38% over the past 2 years and now runs about 12k+ just for epoxy, primer, paint, clear coat. That's if you're going to do it to preserve it. Rattle can and wet sand you can save a tone of cash, but you usually get what you pay for. I did the interior and sound system myself and saved over 5k. Research the parts yourself and you save money as well. This restoration isn't what it used to be.
